Regenerative Radio Using a 1625 Tube
A clone of the 1625 set you say? Nay I say!
This is a truly unique radio although it
does share the same schematic, tube type and building materials as the 1625 set but
there ends the duplication.
All one need do is look at this radio. The shape is all different! What else could one want?
Well then, there are the TWO high power solid brass finned thingies that move electrical stuff
from the tube's plate cap over to the coils stack. Scary to look at but quite harmless
since this set is run on 12VDC current from the wall wart converter shown.
No danger here at all, just theatrics.
And just look at those coils! Each comfortably housed in it's own chamber of clear acrylic
with black acrylic tops and bases. Now that is what I call pampered HoneyCombs!
OK, OK, the antenna and ground brass binding posts are located behind the tube
as they are on the 1625 set but THIS set features an on-off switch!
And check out the black acrylic split panels that provide a clean view of the coils
and tube from the front. Not too shabby if you ask me. And even if you don't
one must notice that the Padouk knobs on this radio have Padouk skirts as well!
Black acrylic base plate and Padouk sub-base define an exquisite style for this
receiver and should command
(see pricelist)
easily.....have you priced brass lately?
